A) Administrative Assistant and Receptionist

Job Description:
American Scientific Labs Inc. is searching for an effective administrative assistant / receptionist to answer phones, perform administrative tasks, and learn/grow their skills. The candidate must possess an excellent, can-do attitude and be flexible.

Main responsibilities include:

Answer phones and provide customer support as needed
Provide administrative and office support activities for multiple managers
Greet visitors
Organize paperwork and office
Schedule and confirm meetings
Distribute and sort mail
Perform data entry as needed

B) Lab Courier

Job Description:
American Scientific Labs, Inc. is searching for a candidate that will serve as a contracted employee to perform a variety of courier and delivery duties utilizing their own automobile. The contracted employee will ensure the proper distribution of supplies, results, and samples to various areas within the city as well as outlying locations. Daily tasks and delivery routes are assigned by a supervisor; however, when actually delivering materials, work is performed without direct supervision.

Main responsibilities include:

Transport of biohazardous specimens including but not limited to blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid, etc., insuring integrity while in transport to designated locations such as blood drawing stations, etc.
Operates an automobile (your own) to deliver samples, results, correspondence, supplies, etc., as requested
Picks up items from designated facilities for immediate, next day or future delivery
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
Excellent customer facing skills; you will be interacting with the client, and therefore, must be generally likeable, friendly and have a good attitude

Specifications:

Principles and practices of safe motor vehicle operation and maintenance
Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in motor vehicle operation
Must have reliable vehicle of your own
Due to exposure to blood specimen samples, applicant MUST be Hepatitis B vaccinated
Must provide replacement if unable to report for duty; Since this is a contract position, the candidate must provide a backup plan/person in case of sick days, vacation, etc.
Knowledgeable in the geography of the routes being assigned to

C) Medical Data Order Entry

Job Description:
American Scientific labs, Inc. is searching for a candidate that will work within a high volume processing department, entering and filing laboratory specimen information into our data system. This position is critical to the operations, and qualified candidates will be required to be 100% accurate in data entry. Applicants must have experience with data processing/entry.

Responsibilities

Handle and interpret specimen orders. Enter order information into our data system
Print labels for requisition forms
Manage a work load to meet company deadlines, timing is critical

Specifications:

Experience working within a data entry environment, knowledge of medical testing preferred

Computer literate, must have understanding of Microsoft Office and other computer-based programs

Excellent typing and ten-key skills, with a typing speed of 55+WPM
Proficient communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong attention to details, highly organized
Ability to work in a fast-paced professional office environment
You will be handling contained specimen samples, so extreme caution with handling is vital
This position requires your schedule to be flexible, the hours are 10pm-4am, Monday through Saturday Clinical Lab Technician (Medical Lab Tech)

D) Clinical Lab Technician (Medical Lab Tech)

Job Description:
American Scientific Labs, Inc. is searching for a candidate that will perform laboratory tests under the close supervision of a senior technician. Typically works with biohazard materials. Responsible for laboratory maintenance, preparing solutions and media.

Responsibilities:

Specimen receiving and accessioning.
Conduct chemical analysis of bodily fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into computer.
Analyze the results of test and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices.
This position performs a variety of routine and special laboratory procedures as authorized by the Manager or Director including rotation through at least three (3) areas of the Clinical Lab: Blood Bank, Hematology, Biochemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immuno-Serology, Bacteriology, and Specimen Processing.
Operates requisite laboratory equipment and instruments; records data; maintains and makes minor adjustments to equipment.
Uses sterile techniques to avoid contaminating lab experiments.
Uses universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazard materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
Complies with biohazard safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents in the workplace.
Completes annual laboratory biohazard/universal precaution safety training, as appropriate.

Specifications:

Work produced is subject to precise measures of quantity and quality.
Continuous exposure to specimens and material considered infectious and/or bio-hazardous such as airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals in this work environment which mandate attention to safety considerations.
Near vision to see objects clearly within 20 inches.
Sharp focus to adjust vision when doing close work that changes in distance from eyes.
Full spectrum vision to identify and distinguish color.
Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.
Handling by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hand or hands, but without finger dexterity.
Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
Occasionally lifting, carrying objects weighing 10 lbs. or less.
Ability to move about laboratory and work efficiently.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology program from an accredited institution.
Preferred MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years laboratory experience in high complexity testing.
